The responsible thing

In the unfortunate vent that you’re involved in any sort of accident, there’s a chance that you’re entitled to some sort of compensation. There are many hazards out there, from poorly lit street signs to wet floors, from medical malpractice to unsecure working conditions. If you incur in an injury or an accident and you feel that there is cause to pursue legal action against the responsible party, it’s your right to do so. And it’s also your duty; it is, we’ll call it, the responsible thing to do. Because more than getting compensated for your own injuries, you will be creating a legal precedent and a paper trail leading to that guilty party and, thus, you’ll be helping prevent more accidents like the one you suffered.

Of course, a lot of people do not do this because they don’t have enough money to pursue legal actions. The State, acknowledging this as a problem in its judicial system, instituted the no win no fee system. Lawyers and law firms that adhere to this system will basically represent you free of charge. To simplify it, the deal goes like this: if you lose the case, you won’t pay a thing and if you win it, the lawyer will keep a percentage of your winnings as compensation for his work.
